Journalist of the Year (Consumer Media)

Criteria

This Award recognises excellence in style and content from magazine writers in print and/or online.

Whatever the channel, judges will be looking for high quality writing in a versatile style appropriate to the magazine’s audience, along with interesting and informative content, also appropriate to the magazine’s audience. The winning entry will show evidence of the writer’s accuracy, readability, originality and flair, together with the writer’s ability to captivate the reader.

Please note that no more than three writers may be entered from any one publication/brand.

Requirements

Tell us in a few bullet points, why you should win this award. Ensure you answer the individual category criteria, as that’s what the judges will be marking against. (Guide word count – 200 words)

Please feel free to upload one additional document with supporting information (can be Word or PDF, max 5Mb). The judges find the following information useful when judging. Please include, if relevant and available:

> Circulation by size and type (free, controlled, newstrade, subscription)

> Audit method (if applicable)

> Relevant revenue / profit figures

> Growth statistics

> Other performance statistics and results / evidence of success

> Website data: page impressions (monthly / yearly), monthly unique users

> Any additional online data

Each submission must consist of the following:

> One entry form

> Two articles that have appeared in a Magazines Ireland member title, each carrying a cover date from the last 12 months and where possible in its original form

> One issue of the whole magazine, carrying a cover date from the last 12 months

Each submission should contain a high resolution print quality scan (300 dpi jpeg) of the magazine cover/website homepage. (Magazine cover must be from one of the three issues submitted.)

Please do not submit any other material – it will not be sent to or considered by the judges

Once the online entry form has been completed please make sure you send us all the hard copy material relevant to the category entered (including magazines, examples of work) to Grace Aungier, Magazines Ireland, 63 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
