Magazines Ireland Press Release 18 July 2012

Irish Magazines helping to Keep Ireland Clean

The Department of the Environment has launched a major advertising campaign to appear in magazines and newspapers over the coming months. The campaign was launched by Minister Phil Hogan on Wednesday 18 July 2012 at the Custom House.

The anti-litter campaign entitled Keep Ireland Clean will appear in all Irish magazine titles over a 10 week period covering July, August and September 2012 and is part of the association’s contribution to a voluntary Producer Responsibility Initiative (PRI) for the industry.

Duan Stokes, Chairman, Magazines Ireland said “we are delighted to be part of this initiative to reduce litter in our countryside. Magazines have an important role to play in the campaign because they reach huge audiences through both newsstand consumer titles and the more specialised niche tiles in the business to business sector”.

Magazines reach every demographic group in the country – from farmers to fashionistas, musicians to accountants, foodies to financiers. Every month 75% of the Irish adults read a magazine. Magazines are an important source of information and have a vital educational role to play in any advertising campaign.

Just some of the magazines featuring in the campaign include RTE Guide; Hot Press; VIP; Irish Tatler; RSVP; Image; Easy Food; House& Home; The Irish Garden; Irish Country Magazine; Irish Kitchens; Business Plus; Maternity & Infant; Eolas; House; WMB; SelfBuild & Improve Your Home; Construct Ireland; Accountancy Ireland; Irish Medical News; Law Society Gazette; Technology Ireland; Irish Hairdresser International; Retail News; Journal of the Irish Dental Association; Auto Trade Journal; EuroTimes; Irish Farmers’ Monthly; Business Eye and IMJ.

Other partners involved in the campaign include Failte Ireland, EPA and the Local Authorities.

Dear Member

You will have seen in this month’s Newsletter some information regarding the Green Press Partnership (GPP) and a commitment magazines and newspapers made some time ago to allocate free advertising space for an advertising campaign to the Department of the Environment.

This is part of the association’s contribution to a voluntary Producer Responsibility Initiative (PRI) for the industry and the Department has requested that that the space be used for an anti-litter campaign in 2012. It timely in the context of the recently announced review of
producer responsibility initiatives.

Magazines Ireland titles are being asked to publish 1 x 1/2 page advertisement each and the department has earmarked July, August and September as the months they would like to run the ad campaign.

Attached is a pdf of the artwork for the advert as well as the Indesign components for it. I would appreciate if you would pass this email and artwork onto your art director. You might like to send me his/her contact details I can deal with them directly.

Should you have any queries regarding copy please contact Alan Barnewell, Brindley Advertising, 55 Main Street, Donnybrook, Dublin 4. Ph: 01 7753400 alan@brindleyadv.ie

We will need to monitor the adverts so you might let me know which issues it has run in.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Kind regards
Grace
