ABC Figures Underline the Unique Power of Magazine Brands

The ABC Ireland figures were released today 18 August 2016. The figures cover the period to 30 June 2016 and are based on circulation for the magazine in print and where available, also incorporate circulation data for digital editions to provide a single, combined circulation figure.

Commenting on the report Grace Aungier, CEO, Magazines Ireland said, “Today’s figures demonstrate the continued strength of both business and consumer magazine brands and they reinforce the power of Irish magazines to engage and influence millions of readers. There is a huge appetite for professionally-created and intelligently-curated content under the banner of a trusted magazine brand. These latest ABC figures show yet again how magazine brands remain uniquely engaging as an environment for both editorial and commercial content”.

Rebecca Markey, Chairman, Magazines Ireland said “Today’s ABC report turns a spotlight on the magazine brands at the core of our sector and serves as a reminder of their unique power in engaging and influencing readers, whether mass market or specialist interest. Magazine brands have shown great innovation in moving to serve their audiences across a variety of platforms in recent years”.

U Magazine targets Irish women aged 20-35 years. Commenting on their half year results, Aisling O’Toole, Editor, U Magazine, said “To say that we are delighted with U Magazine’s 28% increase in retail sales is an understatement. Despite claims to the contrary, these results show that millennials haven’t left us, proving once and for all that print is alive and kicking“.

Michael Diviney, Director of Publishing, Chartered Accountants Ireland commented, “Accountancy Ireland, the members’ magazine for Chartered Accountants Ireland, was happy to report an increase in circulation from 26,039 to 26,337 – the magazine’s highest ever circulation. Accountancy Ireland also continues to be the highest-rated member service for chartered accountants, according to an independent member survey conducted earlier this year, showing that they have a highly-engaged and large specialist audience”.

Paula Lenihan, Director of Editorial, RSVP said “The team at RSVP is delighted with its increased ABC circulation figures. The magazine has gone from strength to strength in the past 12 months and the readers and advertisers are integral to our success. We look forward to continuing to entertain and inform our audience across both print and digital platforms in the coming months and years.”
