Commercial Manager for Irish Tatler magazine (12 Month Contract)

Harmonia is Ireland’s largest magazine publisher with market-leading titles including Irish Tatler, U Magazine, Woman’s Way and FOOD&WINE Magazine. We currently have a 12 month contract vacancy for a highly experienced, self-motivated and successful Commercial Manager for one our flagship titles, and Ireland’s top-performing women’s magazine: Irish Tatler.

This challenging and rewarding position offers the right candidate the opportunity to work on one of Ireland’s longest established and leading ABC1 magazines. Harmonia has invested in upgrading its digital assets for each of its titles including Irish Tatler, and as part of its 2015 strategy, the company intends to build on this investment to maximise revenue generation.  Digital understanding and experience is therefore essential.

Following is a brief outline of the role and responsibilities –

  • Drive revenues through advertising, sponsorship, creative communications and digital.
  • Manage the relationships with key clients, which would include regular meetings and presentations.
  • Manage the relationships and work closely with key brands, agencies and planners to secure/negotiate annual contracts.
  • Identify and increase new business.
  • Develop/create innovative solutions for clients.
  • Work closely with the editorial team on the features list and activity within the magazine and effectively communicate this to clients and advertisers.
  • Work closely with editorial and sales executives / administration on special Irish Tatler Supplements.
  • Keep abreast of all market information regarding ABCs TGIs, competitor activity etc., compile and present relevant data to clients.
  • Attend industry / brand events.
  • Create awareness of brand extensions with advertisers, agencies and brands.
  • Inform clients of relevant marketing strategies throughout the year.
  • Ongoing monitoring and regular internal presentation of key client data i.e. segmentation of clients by sector, by spend direct and agency year on year.
  • Create regular ezines and newsletters to send to all clients.

Skills, knowledge & experience;

  • Proven 6+ years media sales experience (ideally within women’s magazines)
  • A proven track record in achieving monthly / quarterly and annual targets
  • A good understanding and experience of working with fashion and beauty brands, media planners and buyers at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage excellent client and colleague relationships.

Senior Reporter - Checkout Publications

Checkout Magazine, the leading magazine for the grocery retail and FMCG sector, is seeking a Senior Reporter to join its editorial team. Applicants should have at least three years' experience working in the magazine/publishing industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for writing,managing and editing editorial content for the Checkout suite of publications (including Checkout magazine, the weekly Retail Intelligence newsletter and the Checkout.ie website). Knowledge of the grocery/FMCG sectors an advantage.

Checkout magazine, which commemorates its 40th anniversary this year, was recently named winner of the Best Business To Business Magazine (More Than 5,000 Circulation) award at the Irish Magazine Awards.

Image - Fashion Editor

IMAGE Publications Ltd is looking for a new Fashion Editor to replace Sive O'Brien, who has worked with the leading fashion title for over a decade. The right candidate will need to have an exceptional eye, impeccable taste and a passion for both high and underground fashion. At least three years experience of working on editorials is a must. You’ll commission and work closely with photographers, stylists and beauty professionals and will be needed to adhere to strict deadlines and work diligently to maintain the publication’s style, quality of artwork, editorial guidelines and publishing requirements. You should be able to foresee the trends before they happen and interpret them for the IMAGE reader with both style and elegance. You will also be responsible for the fashion content of BASH, our sister wedding magazine. The right candidate will be someone who can also approach bridal fashion with a contemporary eye, unbiased by traditional expectations. Along with experience in styling shoots and compiling/trend shopping features, the possession of excellent writing skills is a must, while an enviable Rolodex of industry contacts and a great aptitude for spotting new talent are a plus. The position is full-time.

Job Description
The Editor of maternity & infant will lead the print and online development of the title while working alongside the events team in developing and deploying the brand in a consistent manner. This is a senior position, reporting to the Managing Editor and the Managing Director. The Editor will be responsible for determining content that reflects the distinctive maternity & infant brand.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional who enjoys leading creative professionals to produce excellent, inspiring content. This person should have a full appreciation of print and online publications and a wider understanding of evolving media channels.

Key Responsibilities 
• Lead and develop the editorial direction of maternity & infant
• Devise and commission content that communicate in the distinctive maternity & infant style
• Collaborate with the team to create and deliver a strategy that increases the quality and reach of the print and digital output
• Play an instrumental role in realising the potential of the synergies between the print, digital and award’s strands of the maternity & infant brand and maximising revenues
• Deliver high standards of journalistic excellence and creative leadership

Required Skills
• Editorial passion for creating and developing magazines
• Excellent knowledge of the subject matter, title and readership
• Experience managing contributors and working collaboratively with the editorial and creative team
• Ability to build the brand creatively across all channels, develop print and website strategies to measurably grow reach and revenue
• Embrace the core values of the publication and deliver them appropriately across multiple platforms
• Substantial expertise in print and online media
• Excellent communication skills, including excellent writing and editing.
•  Ability to lead website strategy to optimize content, grow reach, and earn revenue.
•  Develop a content strategy for print and online platforms.
•  Understanding of analytics and other feedback data and the ability to modify content strategy accordingly
• Ability to work within budgets and deadlines.

Technical Skills
• InDesign CS6, Microsoft Word, experience with Content Management Systems and HTML
• Preparation and management of flat-plans, timelines and spreadsheets
• Strong and demonstrable social media skills and SEO are essential

Desired Experience
• 5 + years of experience in Editing for an established magazine title and website
• Experience in managing internal and external contributors
• BA degree in journalism or similar
• Good connections in the editorial field
