Magazines Ireland Digital Forum
2012: Information for Sponsors
PUBLISHING 360
Chartered Accountants House,
47-49 Pearse Street, D2
Thursday 19 April 2012
8am - 1pm
To state the obvious: the magazine industry
is in transition.
Traditional business models are crumbling -- not least in Ireland where magazines are navigating through a perfect storm created by the downturn, the credit squeeze and the evolution of digital platforms.
There is no shortage of insight and commentary about what to do next. Magazines are urged to think as brands in 360 degrees. Place yourself at the centre of a circle, say the gurus, where your output is distributed through a growing variety of channels and media: mobile, tablets, apps, social... not to forget print.
So is that the answer? Are the revenue streams enough to sustain these new media models? Is there a future for magazines in this new fragmented media landscape?
Magazines Ireland is hosting an initiative to address these challenges, and help its members find the digital media sweet spots. The structure and content of this forum is based on a survey we carried out among members in the autumn of 2011 to review the variety of digital initiatives among Magazines Ireland members and to assess their future needs.
Publishing 360 is a conference for Irish magazine publishers consolidating best practice from around the world with specific focus on commercial revenues and featuring case studies from different publishing houses including consumer, customer, B2B and directory publishers. It will examine paid for and free models and how advertising revenues can successfully transfer online.
The conference will hear from among others, the publisher of WIRED, Rupert Turnbull, about its own 360 degree strategy and lessons learned; and from Colin Crawford, digital media expert and former publisher of MacWorld US.
The full line up of speakers and topics will be announced in February. There will be lively panel discussions and moderated Q&A sessions.
